Condolence: Farewell to Herb, a truly beautiful spirit full of wit and hunmour. I will always remember and be thankful for his ever present smile and laughter. I enjoyed and appreciated every experience I had with him -both professionally in his planning technician days, as a director or player in the numerous musical groups, and personally when he helped me find solutions to practical problems or finding odd tools and materials. He was a person who was valuable to consult with on virtually any undertaking. It was always educational to talk with Herb about things, and I was always amazed by how much he knew.

The Yarmouth musical community has truly lost a Godfather who enriched all of our lives with his many talents and passions. We have all benefitted and grown from his innumberable contributions.

My sincere condolences to all of his family and friends. I will always remember Herb with fondness and admiration.

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Herbie's passing. I remember him teaching us to play recorders in music class, always calling us students Esmeralda, Sam or George. Later working with him at Municipal Affairs,he always had a grin and funny stories to tell. He will be missed by all, a great man so kind and generous. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Condolence: My condolences to Joanne and her family on the sad loss of her uncle, who I knew as Mr. Deveau. In the midst of the distractions of the 1970s, at the consolidated school in Port Maitland, he did his very best to help children like me to appreciate the benefits of a simpler way. It must have been very frustrating work, as he once threatened to break my arm off at the elbow so that he could hit me over the head with it. Won't need to have my arm twisted now to say he was a fine man with a wonderful sense of harmony and good humour. Today, I'll be proudly singing O Canada and maybe a verse or two of The Streets of Loredo, too, thanks to his efforts.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy and prayers are with the family. Herbie was so much to so many . As my Godfather, he showed me generosity, warmth and kindness. His stories, sense of humour and wonderful forgetfulness always brought a smile to my face. It was a joy to be in his company, he has certainly left a lasting impression. I have been blessed to have had him in my life in such a special way.
