Deveau- Herbert Richard , 85 of Dayton died at Nakile Home for Special Care on Friday, June 27th, 2014. Herb was born in Lynn MA on August 3, 1928. Son of the late Herbert Joseph and Elise Marie (Dugas) Deveau. He leaves to morn his brother Henry (Lucille), nephews, Norman (Wendy), Donald (Stephanie), Anthony (Danette), nieces, Carolyn (Alan) LeBlanc, Louise (Garth) Smedley, Joanne (Philip) LeBlanc and Janice (Avery) Deveau, twelve great nieces and nephews, plus god-children which he loved very much. Herb attended school in Lynn, MA, Dayton, St. Ambrose in Yarmouth, College Ste. Anne and Normal College in Truro. He taught school in Wellen, ON; Yellowknife, NWT and Burridge Vocational School. He taught music at Yarmouth County Elementary Schools for 25 years. He worked for the Dept. of Municipal Affairs. Herb was a member and Band Master of the Yarmouth Citizens Band. Organist at Notre Dame and St. Ambrose Cathedral for many years. He was a faithful and charitable person. Delivered Meals On Wheels. His hobbies included gardening, music, boating and flying. He enjoyed his many good friends. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweenys Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place at Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, June 30th, 2014 from 7-9pm. with prayers at 8pm. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 1st, 2014 at 2pm from St. Ambrose Cathedral with Father Gerald David officiating. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Reception to follow. Donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.
