Obituary for Violet Mae Cann

CANN, Violet Mae- age 95, passed away peacefully at the Meadows on September 3, 2015. Born May 18, 1920 she was the daughter of Arthur and Louise (Langthorne) Dunn of Central Argyle. Vi was employed at the Yarmouth Royal Store for 25 years and then spent many memorable working years on the M.V. Bluenose forming lifelong friendships. Vi was loved by her family for her generous spirit and irreverent sense of humour. Vi and Jack’s home, garden and hearts were open to all and she was universally adored by generations of nieces and nephews. Mother Teresa said, “We can do no great things. Only small things with great love.” Vi did many things for many people with great love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Later years were spent at The Meadows where she was cared for by a wonderful staff. She is survived by sisters Joyce Eckyl, Doris Webster, Addie Eldridge, sister-in-law Kit Cann and brother- in law George MacDonald. Vi was predeceased by her husband Jack Lyons Cann, brother William (Eleanor) Dunn, sisters Edith Churchill and Kathleen MacDonald. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held Sunday September 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Corbett officiating.
