My grandfather, Leo Amirault was very good friends with John. I remember him walking to town every day through the week to go visit him at his shoe store. I would go with him at times and watch "Johnny the Shoemaker" hard at work. I still remember the smell of the store, all the shoes that surrounded him and how busy he was with people coming and going at all times. My husband and I always enjoyed bumping into him at the store where we would catch up with each other's families. He will be missed by many. Our deepest sympathies to his family.
