Obituary for Jack Arnold Lowe

LOWE, Jack Arnold – age 64. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend on September 30, 2014. Born January 3, 1950 he was a son to the late Gezina and Havelock Lowe. Jack is survived by wife Susan (Outhouse) Lowe; son, Dwayne (Holly), Port Maitland; Darin (Jennifer), Port Maitland; grandchildren, Kaia, Brynn, Christian; sisters, Hazel (Harry) Grant, Cornwallis Park, N.S.; Dee (George) Campbell, Windsor, N.S.; Deb (Paul) Flewelling, Saint John , N.B.; brother, Rob(Carol), Yarmouth; father and mother in law, Ronald & Elsie Outhouse, Port Maitland; many brothers and sisters in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Jacks first employment was with the Trefry’s Garage as a mechanic and then Motor Mart before he started with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in 1979 as a mechanic on the patrol boats. He soon worked his way up to assistant area manger until his retirement in 2008 after 29 years of loyal service. While at the DFO he was a union rep for the Scotia Fundy Region for 7 years retiring in 2008 as vice president. He has been a member of the Port Maitland Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years and fire chief since 1992. Jack Spent many years with the 84th independent field battery as a warrant officer, retiring in 1984. He was very active with EMO, Mutual Aid Association, and Fire Chiefs Association. In his retirement he enjoyed seasonal camping with his loving wife at Fundy Spray Campground, playing with his beautiful grandchildren, working with his boys, and cruising the Caribbean with friends and family. He will be sadly missed by his loyal companion Barney. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Sunday October 5, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral service will be held Monday October 6, 2014 at 3 p.m. from Yarmouth Wesleyan Church with Rev Don Moses and Rev Scott MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Port Maitland Beaver River Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
