A great chat.

I first met Dr.Burnett on 5600, the surgical floor at Moncton Hospital in April or May of 2010.It was after midnight when he finally got back to the floor after performing surgery. He checked on his patients; wrote a few notes and sat down beside me. I could tell he was tired and I figured he was too tired to get up and go home. So, we chatted. He talked about everything and nothing. I was enthralled as I took every word in. I wanted to do nothing but sit and listen to him. I knew then I had just met a wonderful and kind man.  I did have to actually do some work and he did eventually go home but I never forgot him. It was just last year that I got on the elevator and low and behold, there was Dr. Burnett. I was so excited to see him and of course, he didn't have a clue who I was. I stumbled and stuttered and finally got out that I so liked him, I would just love to spend a Sunday afternoon with him, just chatting. He kind of smiled and sort of mumbled something and, lucky for him, got out on his floor. I am sure he wondered what had just happened in that elevator and was probably glad to get out of there. I wanted his family to know that there are a lot of people out there who really liked Dr. Burnett and that he will be sorely missed. I am so sorry for your loss. May God Bless. Sincerely, Susan M. Agnew
