I was blessed with having Doris as a mother-in-law for many years and will always cherish the memories.Doris was one feisty lady and loved to have a good laugh. She taught me things such as cross stitch and crochet and helped me with many projects. Our family hold dear all her gifts of quilts, cross stitch art and even care bears that she lovingly made. She was also a wonderful cook and we had so many family feasts at the Burt house .She was in her glory when family was there to enjoy all that delicious food. I still use her dressing recipe with our turkey dinners.

We shared our love of gardening and would act like kids at Christmas when we were digging in the earth. I loved that row of marigolds lining the front walkway!.
She loved her time with the grandchildren ,they would look forward to their card games and a bowl of heavenly hash!
The Burt door was always open to friends and family and Doris would love to throw in an extra potato for a friend that was alone at holiday time.
Even in later years I always felt welcome in their home and I was so thankful the children had such wonderful grandparents.

I will have a drink or two tonight and toast to Doris,a loving wife,mother,grandmother,great-grandmother,friend and mother- in- law.

Condolence From: Cousin Joe and Carole Burton
Condolence: Thinking of you and wishing we were near to share with you the loss of your dear wife, mother, and grandmother Doris. As you gather as her family, may you find strength and comfort in each other as you remember her and give thanks for her love and life. She was sunny-hearted, joyous, and outgoing by nature, and throughout her long battle with cancer remained optimistic and positive. Her concern for her family and others often took precedence over concern for herself. We appreciated her phone calls after I (Joe) was diagnosed with cancer last fall. Not feeling very well herself, she was so concerned about me. Our love and prayers are with you all.

Deepest condolences to you all. We always enjoyed Doris so much when we lived next door on the Pitman Road. As well it was always so warming when I would run in to Doris either at the mail or grocery store where I was always guaranteed a big hug and kiss on the cheek. We wish you all the best in the coming most difficult of days but know she is free of pain & her love, guidance & memories will be with you forever.

Love Gerard & Diane
