Obituary for Roland "Rollie" Doucet

Roland "Rollie"  Doucet
Doucet, Roland Francois (Rollie)- age 72, of Lower Wedgeport, N.S. passed away on May 7th, 2017. Born in Wedgeport, NS on June 24th, 1944 he was the son of the late Jerome and Cecile (Boutin) Doucet. Roland with his wife Madeline, ran the Esso service station in Cole Harbour for over 30 years. A devoted husband, he cared for his wife at home for 10 years as she battled progressive supranuclear palsy. After she passed away it affected him deeply, she was his everything. Rollie loved joking around with his grandchildren and always had a great sense of humor. Rollie especially cherished spending time talking with his sons whom he was so proud of. He is survived by his sons; John Roderick (Joanne) and Stephen Jerome (Irene); and loving Grandfather to Jonathan, Nicholas, Niko, Mathew, Parker, Brooklyn and Maximus. Besides his parents and wife he was predeceased by his brothers Ulysse and John. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A memorial service will take place at 2pm on Friday, May 19th in Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Wedgeport, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiating. There will be a reception to follow at the Canadian Legion in Wedgeport. No visitation by family request. Donations in memory may be made to Tri- County V.O.N. Rollie often spoke of how grateful he was for their kindness and support while caring for Madeline.
