Wilma Jean  Richardson
RICHARDSON, Wilma Jean – 85, of Carleton, Yarmouth Co., N.S. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Wilma on May 13, 2015, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Carleton, on August 13, 1929, she was a daughter to the late Maynard and Charlotte (Allen) Hurlburt and foster parents Elmer and Stella (Hurlburt) Pitman. Wilma taught school for a brief period of time and in later years enjoyed acting as secretary for the local chapter of Weight Watchers and T.O.P.S . She remained faithful to the Lord and attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Wilma was generous and compassionate, and enjoyed connecting with people. She had a great love for nature and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading, music, Port Maitland Beach, and was extremely fond of animals. Wilma lovingly devoted her life to caring for, and encouraging, her family. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her husband of 63 years, Malcolm, Carleton; daughter, Marilee (Bob) Jacquard, Yarmouth; brothers Avery (Gloria) Hurlburt, Carleton; Bob Hurlburt (Sylvia Babineau), Oshawa, ON; foster brother, Wayne (Gina) Pitman, Oshawa, ON; sisters, Marion Manser, Oshawa, ON; Pearl Hamilton, Carleton; foster sister, Juanita Brittain, Alma, N.S.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and foster parents she was predeceased by sons, James and David in infancy; brothers, Doran and Victor. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Cannell officiating. Interment will follow in Carleton Cemetery. Donations in Wilma’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, the Carleton Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
