Pothier, William “Pere Willie” George – age 77 of Wedgeport/Plymouth passed away January 5,2020 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his family and friends by his side. Born in Wedgeport he was a son to the late Louis and Margarite (Jacquard) Pothier. Willie was the kindest, gentlest man who always had a smile on his face. He absolutely loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. Willie started his working career as a fisherman and then worked for Robinson’s Supplies and A.L LeBlanc, and finally Nova Welding to finish his working career. In his spare time Willie loved to camp, spend time with family and friends, listen to music and could be found drinking a Tim Hortons Coffee or “two”. He also was very fond of animals, especially his dog Ellie. Willie’s legacy is gentle kindness and the love he showed to his family and friends. He was known to be a lifelong volunteer with the youth of Wedgeport through the Knights of Columbus in his earlier years and more recently with youth groups assisting pastor Keith Moore. He is survived by his daughters, Kelley (Paul) Muise, Hectanooga ; Suzanne (Alain) Deveau, Fort McMurray AB; brothers, Anthony (Linda) Pothier, Wedgeport; Elie (Carole) Pothier, Wedgeport; sister Jeanne Corporon, Wedgeport, grandchildren Adam Deveau, Ryan Deveau, Lisa Murray, John Muise, Joseph Muise, who he loved to the moon and back, as well as 13 great grand children; and one great-great grandchild. Besides his parents Willie was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years Phyllis Anne “Mere” Pothier; sister, Florence Deveau; and brother, Delbert Pothier. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place on Thursday January 9 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm from Sweeny’s Funeral home Chapel. Suzanne, Kelly and families
At times like this, being closer would be so nice. I have so many wonderful memories of both Uncle Willie and Aunt Phyllis, so many smiles, laughs and great memories of Sunday visits at the "red house". I hope those memories stay lit brightly in your hearts as well. Love you all
