In 1964 he came to Yarmouth and worked for Pleasant Supplies, Sweeny’s Fisheries, and Gateway Engineering before B. Garson and Sons. Later he became part owner and manager of Garson Industrial Supplies. Vaughn was a proud “Tory” from the very first day he was old enough to vote. He was Director of the West Nova EDA, Director of the Yarmouth PC Association, Housing Authority, member of the Yarmouth Racing Association, one of the founding members and past president of the Chebogue River Aquatic Club, and member of the Yarmouth Lions Club where he served time as King Lion and on several committees through the years. Vaughn is survived by Joan; daughters, Linda Mae Estabrooks (Garnet), Halifax; Elizabeth “Betty-Ann” Craig (Mark Cunham), Halifax ; granddaughter, Tammy Anderson (Jonathan), Ontario; Tracy Wallace (Chris), Ontario; grandson, Garnet Vaughn Jr. (Shana); sister, Marjorie Bain, Ontario; sister in law, Doris Craig, Berwick; sister in law, Charmaine Tibbo, Yarmouth; five great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as extended family, Erika Delyea and Travis Nickerson, to who he has always been their Grampy Vaughn from the time they were born. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce; brothers, Donald Judson “Bud” and John Wylie. Special thanks to the doctors, specialists, nurses, trainees, and staff at the hospital who all gave such dedicated care and attention for the last several years. Sincere gratitude to Dr. Webster and Dr. Wertlen for all the recent care in the last few months. Sincere gratitude to the VON and the paramedics who made many trips to Chebogue, they all go above and beyond in every way possible. Thanks to friends and neighbours for all their visits and support. Special thanks to rev. A.D “Bill” Newell. The Lions Club will open their doors at 87 Parade Street on May 20 at 7 p.m. to welcome anyone who wishes to join us in celebrating Vaughn’s life.
