Obituary for Stanley Edward Nickerson

Stanley Edward  Nickerson
Nickerson, Stanley Edward- age 85, of Pubnico Head, N.S. passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on November 7th, 2016. Born in Yarmouth, NS on October 14th, 1931 he was the son of the late William Thomas “B” and Sarah Amelia (Moffat) Nickerson. Besides being a loving husband, father and grandfather. Dad was a hero: serving in the Korean War first and then taking care of his family till the end. He was also known affectionately by many in the community as “Mr. Stanley:, a name given to him by his other children where he worked at Argyle School. After serving in Korea he returned home to work at Sobeys, the “Cotton Mill”, mowing lawns and was also a janitor at the school. In his retirement he and mom did wood working and crafts from home and travelled to craft sales all over Nova Scotia before retiring again in 2007. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lottie Lola (Murphy), children; Iris Muise (Rockville) and Terril (Noella) Nickerson of Kemptville, Grandchildren; Soliterre Babé Fells (Dartmouth, NS) and Charles Morrell Fells (Edmonton, AB), Sister; Chloe Seeley (Yarmouth, NS), Brothers; James Nickerson (Tusket, NS) and Clarence (Judy) Nickerson (Meaford, Ont.), sister in law; Charlena Murphy (Pubnico Head, NS) as well as special nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Barbara Harding and son in law Gary Muise. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 10th from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday November 11th , 2016 at 2 p.m. with Sharon Lohnes officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
