Obituary for Ronald Leslie "Spike" Outhouse

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Ronald Outhouse announce his passing on July 25,2015. Born in Port Maitland on October 5,1925 he was the son of the late Bernard and Sadie (Trask) Outhouse. In his early years he was a fisherman before working on the MV Bluenose for 27 years until retirement. Ronald was an avid Blue Jays fan and a local legend on the ball field himself. He also enjoyed playing pool, hunting, square dancing with the Bluenose Twirlers, singing in the Church choir and the Barber Shop choir with whom he performed in the 1980 NS Tattoo.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elsie (Pierce) Outhouse, sons Earl (Rose) and Randy (Donna), daughters Susan Lowe, Rhonda (Melford) Haley and Gaylene (Percy) Bourque, grandchildren Dwayne & Darin Lowe, Shonah & Nicole Bourque, Amanda Outhouse and Jessica Haley, great grandchildren Kaia, Brynn and Christian Lowe. He was the last remaining member of his immediate family and predeceased by son-in-law Jack Lowe and grandson Justin Haley. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr.Thomas Muise for his devoted care.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweenys Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place Monday, July 27 from 7-9pm. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 28 at 2pm in Sweenys Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stephen Hopper and Rev. Scott MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place in the Port Maitland Beaver River Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital or the charity of your choice.
