Another Cousin's Memory
The last time I saw Rick was at my father's funeral a few years ago. Rick was never one to enjoy either crowds or formal situations, and when I first picked his face out of the crowd, the look on it said clearly that he would rather be just about anywhere else in the world at that moment. But he was there. I think he was none too happy with me when I made him change his seat and join the family rather than hide at the back, but he did that too. He was gone in such a hurry when the service was over I didn't get an opportunity to tell him how much I appreciated his presence that day. I hope he knew.
