Muriel  Deveau
DEVEAU Muriel Coral – age 97 of Carleton, Yarmouth Co, N.S. passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on May 13, 1919 in Manchester, New Hampshire she was a daughter to the late Leland St. Clair Annis and Edna (Whitehouse) Annis. Muriel was a member of the Carleton United Baptist Church and life member of the Woman’s Missionary Society. Her working career after grade 12 consisted of working at the Clothes Pin Factory, Cosmos Imperial Cotton Mill in Yarmouth and cashier at Sobeys. She then went to Whitby Ontario and worked at Croven’s Electronics before returning Yarmouth to and working at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital as a ward clerk until retirement. After retirement she made 58 quilts all by hand and what wasn’t given to family and friends was donated to the Carleton Fire Department and Yarmouth Hospital to sell tickets on. In her 90’s she made toques and mittens for the Salvation Army Christmas boxes. She is survived by her daughter Mariea (Jerry) Titus, Yarmouth; sons, Paul (Fran), Hilden N.S.; Randy (Wendy), Carleton; grandchildren, Kirk, Tara, Christopher, Erin; and great grandchildren, Madison, Brodey, Mackenzie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and predeceased by her loving husband Gerald; brother, Leland Annis; sisters, Pearl McGray and Sadie Crowell; and granddaughter Tracy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Saturday April 22, 2017 from 1-2 P.M. with a funeral following at 2 P.M all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Bev Densmore will be officiating. Interment will take place in Carleton Cemetery. A reception will be held following the service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Hall on William Street. Family flowers only please. Donation in memory may be made to the N.S. Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice. The family of Muriel would like to thank Dr. Hussein and all the nurses at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
