Obituary for Mildred Elizabeth Cook

COOK, Mildred Elizabeth – age 86, of Yarmouth, passed away on February 18, 2016 at Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac in Dayton. Born in Yarmouth County, N.S. on September 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Isabelle Vickery (Keating). Mildred was a secretary at L.G. Trask Agency for 20 years and later worked at Marjorie’s Yarns and Crafts for 8 years before retiring. Mildred was a member of the Golden Age Club of Port Maitland. In her spare time Mildred enjoyed knitting, cooking, and doing various crafts. She is survived by her daughters; Susan (Doug) Campbell, South Ohio; Winnie (Colin) Eckert ,London, Ont.; Angela (Jeff) Cook-Armini, Fergus Ont.; Peggy (Randy) MacDonald, Bedford; sons, John (Holly) and Danny (Muriel) Cook, of Brenton; sisters, Freda (George) Nickerson of Yarmouth and Mary (Barry) Wilkins of Halifax; grandchildren, Shawn, Merton, Shane, Jaye, Jason, Daniel, John, Katie, Elizabeth and Oliver as well as 17 great grandchildren. Besides her parents Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Merton W. Cook; Brothers Jerry, Wayne, Paul, Lorne and Michael and a great granddaughter Tara. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 24 at 2 pm from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Pennell officiating. Interment will take place in the Lake George Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
