Obituary for Marie "Helen" Landry

Marie "Helen" Landry
LANDRY, Marie “Helen” – age 90, of Amirault’s Hill N.S. passed away peacefully on November 18, 2016. Born August 25, 1926 she was a daughter to the late Ernest “Bob” and Eunice (Landry) Stewart. Helen was a devout catholic, loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and friends dearly. She carried her life with utmost grace and humility, raising her three children, while working at Dominion textiles, until she retired. She placed great pride in higher education and in supporting her grand-children in their extra-curricular pursuits. Her devotion to her family is marked by her willingness to travel alone, at the age of 89, to visit her daughter and family in Ontario. Despite encountering many personal hardships in her lifetime, she always strived to maintain a positive outlook on life, seeing the bright side in difficult situations: her smile serving as her badge of honor. In her spare time she loved to dance, talk with friends and family, go out to eat with friends and family, and had a love of animals, especially dogs. She leaves her community with a legacy of kindness, smiles and an infinite number of “Thank-Yous”. Helen is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou (Ivan) Ip, Oakville ON; sons, Gary (Jane Boyd) Landry, Halifax; Dwayne (Lesley Wood) Landry, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Hansel, René, Célina IP and Chloe, Lexi, Dylan Landry. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Jobie Landry; brother, Hubert Stewart; and grandson, Nikolas Landry. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Sunday November 20, 2016 from 7-9 P.M. with prayers at 8 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Amiraults Hill on November 21, 2016 at 10 A.M. with Father Maurice LeBlanc officiating . Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow the interment at Twin Village Social Club in Amiraults Hill. Family flowers only please. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to YACRO, or the Yarmouth S.P.C.A.
