Louis Joseph "Lou" Lesser
Lesser, Louis Joseph “Lou” – age 74, of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on July 28th, 2018, with his family by his side. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 9th, 1944, he was a son to the late Edward and Dorothy (Graves) Lesser. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Lou loved his family dearly. He was a devoted high school teacher for over 30 years, taking pride in his profession and influencing not only his two sons, who followed in his footsteps, but many others, both in and out of the classroom. Lou had a passion for anything science fiction. He especially loved Star Trek and had a special room devoted to it. His other interests included global affairs and news, Disney, his fur babies, stats on everything imaginable and keeping up with the weather. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Lesser (Keddy), Yarmouth; sons Dan (Kerri) Lesser, Ontario and Derek (Francine) Lesser, Yarmouth; brothers Barry (Donna) Lesser, Halifax, and Mike (Jackie) Lesser, Truro; sister, Bertha (Gerry Gillis) Lesser, Halifax; special sisters-in-law, Barbara Keddy (Milton Chew), Halifax, and Pat Lesser, Fredericton. He also leaves nine grandchildren — Taisha, Nathan, Calem, Shaelee, Jacob, Brody, Danny, Julia and Janell; and two great-grandchildren, Ryder and Parleigh. Besides his parents, Lou was predeceased by his brother, Brian Lesser. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 8:00 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will take place on Friday August 3rd, 2018 at 2 p.m. at St. Ambrose Cathedral, with Father Pat O’Meara officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, with a reception taking place after the burial in the St. Ambrose Jubilee Room. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lou’s memory may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank or the Yarmouth S.P.C.A. A special thank you to Dr. Green and Dr. Moses, as well as caregivers Suzan Yeates (& Allen Hamilton), Bev Muise, Sharon Boyd and Karen Perry for their kind and compassionate care.
