Obituary for Leslie Joseph Purdy

Leslie Joseph  Purdy
Purdy, Leslie Joseph- age 80, of Yarmouth N.S. passed away on June 23rd in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth on July 1, 1935 he was the son of the late Bernard (Locke) Purdy and Ethel (Hunt) Purdy. Leslie worked in Montreal for C.P. rail as a buyer before moving to Yarmouth in 1978. While in Yarmouth he worked at Boutiliers Building Supplies as well as R.A. Belliveau’s, during this time he also purchased a convenience store in Rockville. In his spare time Leslie enjoyed to golf as well as singing with the choir at Beaver River Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife Madeleine Fay (Tills) Purdy, Daughters’; Amanda Burgess, Josephine (Raymond) Beauregard, Sons, Terrence (Cheryl) Brown, Kevin (Sheryl) Brown, Sisters; Vertilee Purdy, Ethel (Honey) McCumber, Gail Doucette and Phylis Single. Grandchildren; Shawn (Andrea) Beauregard, Brett Beauregard,Jessica Brown, Lindsay (Andrew) Jelly and Kate (Tyler) Werford as well as 4 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother’s Stanley and Mildon Purdy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium Yarmouth. A memorial service will be held at Sweeny’s Funeral Home chapel Monday June 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Keith Moore officiating. There will be no visitation by family request. Interment will be at Chebogue Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia.
