GAVEL, Lawrence “Larry” Harris -62, of Pleasant Lake, Yarmouth Co., N.S., passed away at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on May 28, 2014. Born in Yarmouth on January 15, 1952 he was a son to the late Harris and Annie Gavel. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly. Larry was a mechanic for most of his life, working at Tusket Ford for over thirty years. He had a love of anything with a motor and wheels, especially racing cars which he was especially good at and won many races. He also loved to ride his motorcycle. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn (Penney), Pleasant Lake, Yarmouth Co; daughter, Amy (Ronald) Fells, Pleasant Lake, Yarmouth Co; son, Preston Gavel, Alberta; brothers, Donald (Helen), Gavel, Pleasant Lake, Yarmouth Co; James (Linda) Gavel, Yarmouth; sister, Mary Williams , Yarmouth; and grandchildren, Nehemiah, Jalen, Heaven. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alden Fells officiating. Family flowers only please. Interment will follow in Pleasant Lake Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
