Obituary for Kathleen E. "Kaye" Robbins

ROBBINS, Kathleen E. “Kaye” – Yarmouth. We sadly announce the passing of Kaye on October 23, 2014 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth on January 7, 1925, Kaye was the only daughter of the late Franklin and Myra (Butcher) Sollows. She owned & operated Robbins Floral House with her late husband Hugh, and later served as District Registrar of Births & Deaths. A proud 60-year member and former Regent of IODE, Leif Erikson Chapter, she was a tireless community volunteer. Kaye was the beloved mother of Heather Hayes, Jennifer (Larry) Hemeon, Kim Robbins, Ian (A.K. Bito) Robbins, Jill Robbins; grandmother to Kristopher and Jeffery (Carmen) Hemeon, and Felix Bito Robbins; great-grandmother to Luke Hemeon. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and the Robert Hayes family. Missed by sister-in-law Eleanor Sollows and long-time friends Mary C., Anne C. and Mary Mac. She was predeceased by husband Hugh B. Robbins, brothers Gordon and Wilbur. Special thanks to Dr. David Webster, 3rd Floor hospital staff, Home Care, the VON, Mary D. and Marilee R. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of Kaye’s life will be held on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at 2 pm from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Donations may be made to a charity of choice. We will remember Kaye’s strength, courage and good humour. Online condolences may be sent to sweenysfh@eastlink.ca. You may sign the guestbook online at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net.
