Obituary for Kathleen Goodwin

Kathleen  Goodwin
GOODWIN, Kathleen McArdell – age 90, of Roseway Manor, Shelburne Co., N.S. and formerly of Yarmouth, passed away on October 28, 2015 at Roseway Manor. Born in Yarmouth N.S. on January 4, 1925 she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie (Hamilton) Christie. Kathleen was a devoted Christian, loved listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. She became especially close, and developed a true friendship, with her roommate Hazel Young at Roseway Manor. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Beverley (Garvin) Nickerson, Newellton; son, William (Patsy) Goodwin, Central Argyle; grandchildren, Michelle, Darren, Marla, Allen, Sherri; and 10 great grandchildren. Besides her parents Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, Ernest; brother, Ralph; half brothers, Clive , Ashton, Leroy, Lewis, Charles; sisters, Thelma Fenton, Amy, Vera; half sisters, Etta and Olive. The family would like to thank Argyle Home Support, Meals on Wheels, and Lional Landry who helped gram to stay at home for as long as she was able to on her own. Thank you to the staff at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital – ALC Unit and the staff at Roseway Manor where she spent her last years. And lastly to Hazel Young who gave gram a true friendship. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Sunday November 1, 2015 from 1 p.m until funeral time at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev A.D. “Bill” Newell will be officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Pubnico Head. Donations in memory may be made to Roseway Manor or a charity of your choice.
