Obituary for June Alice Kehoe

KEHOE, June Alice – age 92, of Dayton, Yarmouth County passed away January 6th, 2016 at Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac. Born in Killaly, Saskatchewan on June 5th, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Whall. June grew up on a Canadian Pacific Railroad station in the prairies where her father who was the station agent taught her Morse code. She later worked as a relief agent for Morse code telegraphers on the railroad during WWII where she met her first husband Ralph Allen. After Ralph passed away June returned to teaching elementary school in Selkirk and Port Dover Ontario. During an adventure to Nova Scotia June met and later married Percy Kehoe. June soon retired from teaching and moved to Glenwood, NS and then later to Yarmouth. Together June and Percy enjoyed many years of travel, card games and celebrations and were joined by their family and friends. June had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the piano which she played beautifully for her own pleasure and that of many others throughout her lifetime. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons; William (Gillian) Allen, Ontario, Patrick (Patricia) Allen, Ontario and daughters; Kathleen (Dennis) Allen, Halifax and Dorothy Allen as well as Grandchildren; Chris, Jessica, Karl, Kevin, Stephanie and Morgan. June was also much loved and well cared for and entertained by Percy’s son and daughter in law Wayne and Elaine Kehoe, their children David and Holly, Carrie and Paul Dorion (Children: Sarah, Benjamin and Jacob), Shawn and Darlene Kehoe (children: Connor and Megan) also Percy’s oldest son Franklyn and his sons (Richard, Michael and Brian) June spent her last 3 ½ years at Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac where she was well cared for and loved. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Funeral will be held Tuesday, January 12th at 1 pm from Temple United Baptist Church in Yarmouth with Pastor Robert Gates and Reverend Shawn Kehoe officiating.
