John "Jack" Oliver  Himmelman
Himmelman John “Jack” Oliver- age 78 of Hebron Yarmouth Co. N.S. passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on June 29, 2017. Born in Rose Bay, N.S. on March 23, 1939 he was a son to the late Lemuel and Mary (Hayward) Himmelman. John moved to Dublin Shore when he was young and went to sea at the age of 16 with Shell Oil where he travelled the world. In 1961 he joined the RCMP Marine Division and eventually took his last posting in Yarmouth in 1970 before retiring in 1993. In his spare time he enjoyed working in the wood pile, hunting and fishing and anything with fur, feathers, and bark. He was known to tell a story or two and frequently visited friends at Tim Horton’s. He also had a great love of his dogs and cats. He is survived by his wife Donna (MacQuarrie) whom he married in 1965; son, John Douglas (Susan), Ketch Harbour; grandchildren, Allison and Erin Graves, Chase and Cameron Himmelman; his favourite aunt, Barb Hayward and his large extended family of cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Tracey Allison Graves; and brother, Fred. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Sunday July 2, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 3:30 P.M. from Beacon United Church with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell and Rev. Sharon Lohnes officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Hebron. A reception will follow the service in the Beacon United Church Community Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund, Yarmouth SPCA, or the I.W.K. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses on 3 South, Dr Kysela, Dr Gillis and Dr Cindy Boudreau, and well as special thank you to Crystal McCormack and the girls at the chemotherapy unit along with the palliative care team, Paula Watkins and Dr. Riley.
