Obituary for John Randell Donaldson
John Randell Donaldson was born on August 4, 1933 on Cape Sable Island to Maude and Wallace Donaldson. He passed away on March 10, 2018.
John spent his entire working career in the Insurance industry and during that time founded J. Donaldson Insurance.
He loved the outdoors, and was an avid fly fisherman, and hunter.
John was the loving husband of Joan, the love of his life for 62 years, and was the proud father of three sons, Michael, married to Joan; Colin (Randy) married to Shauna, and Duncan (Corey.). He had six grandchildren who he loved dearly: Morgan, Caile, Meighan, Alanna, Bradford, and Lily and one great grandson, Lyric.
In his last few days, John felt it was important to share his love for his wife Joan, his sons and daughter-in-laws, and his grandchildren. He told each of them how proud he was, and he took the time to say all the things he wanted to say to each of them as well as his extended family and friends.
His last moments were very peaceful and he will always be remembered by his family and friends with love, humor, kindness, and respect. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium in Yarmouth. Visitation will be Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 1pm, followed by a Memorial service at 2pm both in the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev A.D. Bill Newell officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial Donations in John’s memory made be made to the Tusket River Environmental Protection Association.
