Obituary for Helen Mary Wetmore

Helen Mary Wetmore
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother Helen Mary Wetmore R.N. on January 11 th , 2017 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 7 th , 1924 to the late Everett Roderick Churchill and Margaret (Symonds) Churchill, Helen was the family matriarch. Helen’s career was mainly at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, where she was a nurse and the head of the Intensive Care Unit for many years. Dedicated to her profession, even after her retirement, she continued to attend all of the retired nurses and hospital functions. Active in her community, she had strong faith and was a member of the Beaver River United Baptist Church, Bonnie Brier Rebekah Lodge, and also a member of the New Horizons Seniors Club. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed travelling with her late husband Edgar. She was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles, card games and watching Coronation Street and Jeopardy. It was often said she missed her calling as a Jeopardy contestant. A wealth of knowledge to others; her family always looked to her for advice and guidance. Accepting of everyone, Helen never judged and treated everyone equally. Her love of people and her family was sincere and heartfelt. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters; Margaret “Peggy” Nichols, Linda (Jim) Bell, Janice (Keith) Bridgeo. Sons; Edgar Jr. “Bud” (friend Nancy), Rod, David “Jake” (Carol) and brother John “Jack” Churchill. She had 10 grandchildren; Natalie, Kevin, Jonathan, Marcy, Cheryl, Brian, Rebekah, Robby, Jamie, and Kaylah and 11 great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Edgar and son-inlaw Don Nichols. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday January 14, 2017 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Keith Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Port Maitland/Beaver River Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations in memory can be made to the Beaver River Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
