Obituary for Glendon Curtis "Glen" Hersey

HERSEY, Glendon Curtis – age 70, of Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on January 22, 2015 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Port Maitland on December 2, 1944 he was a son to the late Borden and Ethel (MacAlpine) Hersey. Glendon was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. Glendon worked at his father’s fish business and was an assessor, self employed trucker, and long haul trucker. Glendon also worked at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital as maintenance and also a P.C.W . He also worked at YACRO, Yarmouth Concrete and Gravel for 12 years, and operated Texaco Service Station for several years. In retirement his passion was music (base guitar); he played with several groups and greatly enjoyed being part of the band “Blue Country” which was dream come true. He enjoyed playing at the “Hook and Sea” in Port Maitland. and thoroughly enjoyed playing benefits, senior homes, and charities. Glendon also had a passion for antique cars. He is survived by his loving wife; Louise (Mood) Hersey; daughters, Cathy Hersey; Rhonda (Chris) Outhouse; son, Carmen Hersey (Rose) grandchildren; Lucas and Logan Fuller; Kala Outhouse (Jamie); Emma Hersey. Besides his parents Glendon was predeceased by his son Curtis in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no funeral or visitation by Glendon’s request. Donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
