Obituary for Gerald Arthur Hamilton

HAMILTON- Gerald Arthur-age 82 of Carleton, Yarmouth Co. died October 7, 2013 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Gardeners Mill, Yarmouth Co., N.S he was a son of the late Arvid and Iva (Hurlbert) Hamilton. Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was very proud of his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a truck driver and worked at many different companies throughout his career as well as General Motors for 15 years. He was a faithful member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and was known to be a generous man who enjoyed helping others. He is survived by his loving wife Pearl (Allen), Carleton; sons, Bruce (Ellen), Carleton; Brian (Ola), Carleton; John ( Melissa), Pickering ON; brothers, Ross (Ann), Tusket; Benjamin “Benny” (Beverley), South Ohio; Ernest (Barbara), South Ohio; sisters, Pearl (Floyd) Hemeon, Sandy Point, Shelburne Co., N.S.; grandchildren, Melanie, Alberta; Riley and Gary of Carleton; Amanda and Austin of Oshawa ON; great grandchildren, Trey, Raine, Gabriel “Gabe”. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sister, Marion Whitehouse; grandson, Mark; and a great granddaughter in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held from the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on Thursday October 10, 2013 at 2:00pm with Rev. Mike Cannell officiating. Burial will follow in Carleton Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church or the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
