George Joseph Paul  Moody
MOODY, George Joseph Paul –age 96 of Veteran’s Place, Yarmouth Nova Scotia passed away peacefully on February 5, 2018. Born in Amiraults Hill, Yarmouth Co., N.S. on September 27, 1921 he was a son to the late James H. and Mary A (Saulnier) Moody. George was a WWII Veteran and served over seas. After the war he stayed behind during the reconstruction efforts. Upon returning home he became a salesman and eventual manager of Lyons of Arcadia Furniture Store. Next he moved on to manage the Clipper Ship Tavern and then odd jobs as a handyman until retirement. In his earlier years he loved to dance and listen to country music, especially Jim Reeves. George was a past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 Wedgeport, Sgt with the Yarmouth 84 Independent Field Battery, and Captain of the Cadet Core of Yarmouth. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy “Jean” (Stewart) Moody; sisters, Ann Shufelt, Yarmouth; Celeste Maisine, Halifax; son, Kevin(Evelyn) Moody, PEI; stepchildren, Kim (Brian) Oickle and Debbie(Harry) Mantle, Truro; grandchildren, Kelly, Mitchell, Cindel, Sondra, Adam; and great grandson, Jack; and his life long best friend Wes Spinney. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Jackie, and a son Lloyd Moody. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium , Yarmouth . A legion service will be held Friday February 9, 2018 at 3 P.M. form Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, all are welcome to attend. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery .
