Ernest Lyman "Bud"  Thompson Jr.
Thompson, Ernest Lyman Jr. “Bud”, 78, Pembroke, Passed away June 30, 2018 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 4, 1940, he was the son to the late Ernest Sr. and Bernice (MacKinnon) Thompson. In Bud’s younger years he worked clamming, worming and lobster fishing. He was a jack of all trades, holding jobs as a carpenter, garbage man, owning his own recycling company and milk truck driver. He worked on the M.V. Bluenose for many years and most recently as a janitor at Maple Grove Education Center until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and working in his garage on his latest invention. He was well liked by many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Margaret (LeBlanc); three sons, Kent (Debbie), Dayton; Dale (Susan), Pembroke; Ricky, Dartmouth; two step sons Everette (Marsha) Saulnier, Halifax; Michael (Tina) Saulnier, Truro; grandson Aaron (Aislin) Thompson, Bridgewater; step granddaughter Ashley Saulnier; sisters Marjorie (Bill) Newell, Overton; Jessie Pitman, Truro; brother Harold (Ann) Thompson, Cannan; sister in law Terrie Thompson. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Stanley and Randall in infancy; sister Janette Cunningham. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 4,2018 at 2Pm from the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church. Rev. Tom Cann officiating. Interment to follow in Cheggogin Cemetery. We would like to express our heart felt appreciation to Dr's Tagboto, Wertlen and Webster. Thank you to the nurses on 3 south and a very special thank you to the nurses on 4 south , where we were a family for such an extended length of time. ... you guys are exceptional ,going above and beyond . We will never forget the care you provided.. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer society or charity of your choice.
