Elva "Joyce"  Hurlburt
Hurlburt, Elva “Joyce” – age 89, of the Meadow’s Home for Special Care passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018 surrounded by many of her children. Born on May 29, 1928 she was a daughter to the late Frederick and Edna (Hulburt) Duncanson. She is survived by a sister Ruth Ring as well as her 9 children, Elaine (Graydon Gray), Kemptville; Daphne (Paul Willison) Carleton; Wanda (Melery Rhyno), Cambridge ON; Helena (John Brown), Argyle Head; Beverly (Kevin O’Neil), Digby; Heather (Glenn Thorbahn), Hammonds Plains; Bonnie Hurlburt (Fraser Royal), Carleton; Philip (Sally), Chebogue; Ricky (Corinne), Pleasant Valley; as well as 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Roland Hurlburt; sister, Alma Hurlburt; and her brother, Keith Duncanson. Joyce took great pleasure in her very large family. She enjoyed hunting until she was well into her seventies, playing cribbage at the legion, and watching her favorite baseball team The Toronto Blue Jays. She also enjoyed watching curling. She faithfully attended the Exhibitions where her family has taken part for many years up until she was 88 years old. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Sunday February 11, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Monday February 12, 2018 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Crowell officiating. Interment will take place in the Carleton Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Tri County V.O.N or the Carleton Cemetery.
