GODFREY, Ellen Marion “Nellie”- age 98 of Deerfield, Yarmouth Co., N.S., passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on April 25, 2014. Born in Northern Ireland on September 8, 1915 she was a daughter to the late Robert and Maria (McWilliam) Harvey and step-daughter to the late John Finlay. Ellen was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church, Women’s Missionary Society, Women’s Institute, Ladies Auxiliary, Valley District Fire Department, and member of the Eastern Star Chapter 15. She is survived by her son, Philip (Heather), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Sean, Erin and Susan; great grandchildren, Liam and Kyleigh; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Philip; brothers, Robert and William; sisters, Sarah and Maria. Funeral arrangements have entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church. A funeral service will take place Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Cannell officiating. Interment to follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
