FITZGERALD Elizabeth Marilla – Formerly Betty Nickerson – age 93 of Yarmouth passed away on April 1, 2016. Born in Clyde River, Shelburne Co., N, S, on December 4, 1922 she was a daughter to the late Spencer and Gertrude (Perry)Nichol. Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She worked as a farmer’s wife and took in borders as well as worked at Minards, Guess Hardware, and the Yarmouth Sterilization Lab before she retired. In her spare time she volunteered at the Women’s Institute, was a member of the Red Hatters, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 167, and a member of the Women’s Institute Auxiliary of the Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church. Elizabeth also loved to read, cook and was known to be “the princess” always being dressed for the occasion. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Brenda Muise, Sackville N.S.; sons, Spencer (Sonny) Nickerson, Dayton, Yarmouth Co., Michael (Melissa)Nickerson, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Tabitha (Jeff) Bray, Victoria B.C.; Chris (Heidi) Muise, Hammonds Plains; Sebrina Cameron, Grand Lake; Jennifer (Kevin) Rogers, Shubenacadie; Marie (Cory) Bezeau, Hanover ON.; Jamie Nickerson, Halifax; Jason Nickerson, Halifax; Darren Nickerson, Kentville; Dana (Carrie) Nickerson, Oshawa ON; Aldeana (Derek) Deveau, Beaverbank; Troy (Joanne) Nickerson, Musquodoboit Harbour ; Samantha Nickerson, Bridgewater; Veronica Nickerson, Bridgewater; great grandchildren, Nicole (Jordan) Vanderschaaf, Spencer Muise, Alex Muise, Jadyn Cameron, Lexie Cameron, Damien Forest, Dylan Forest, Madi Bray; Elliot Rogers; Tristan, Joshua, and Emma Bezeau; Emma and Georgia Nickerson; Maryssa Deveau; Noah and Jayden Nickerson; great-great grandson, Landon; step children, Joyce Fitzgerald; John (Priscilla )Fitzgerald; Andrea ( Mark) Stewart; step grandchildren, Scott (Janice) Fitzgerald ; Christopher Fitzgerald ; Lisa Terzella (John); Sarah Osmond (Ryan); Erick Stewart; step great grandchildren, Jessica Fitzgerald; Kimberley Fitzgerald; Allison Fitzgerald and Colette Robert; Lincoln and Olivia Osmond; step great- great grandchild, Kash Fitzgerald. Besides her parents Elizabeth was predeceased by her first husband, Alvin N. Nickerson “Ed”; second husband, Arthur George Fitzgerald; son, Walter Edward Russell Nickerson; great grandson, Richard James Nickerson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Wednesday April 6, 2016 from 2-4 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home South Room, and from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 2 P.M. from Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Carleton Cemetery. Donations in Memory may be made to the Maple Grove/Yarmouth High Memorial Club.
