Condolences

Condolence From: Susan (Allen) Saunders
Condolence: She was a wonderful lady and a special teacher. Even now I find myself thinking of her often as I set a table or wash dishes....every thing had (and still has) its place and order. The congregation at Beacon Church will miss her sitting in her favourite seat. She was so active in the church for so many years and revered by all.

Condolence: I was very saddened to hear of Elinor's passing. I will remember her fondly as a mentor in my early years of teaching Family Studies in Yarmouth. She was a lady with great taste who generously gave her time to volunteer in the community.

Condolence: I am saddened to hear of my oldest cousins passing. I remember the days of visiting Uncle Gordon and Aunt Anna and Elinor was always not far away as she was a very devoted daughter. She has touched so many lives over many years. My parents were particularly close to Elinor and often visited her in Yarmouth. My regret is that since my parents passing I have not talked to her. RIP dear Elinor sadly missed but never forgotten.

Condolence: So glad I had a chance to tell dear Miss Blackie how much I appreciated her as my teacher. I still use many of her recipes, as do my children and now grandchildren. She will always be remembered with much affection.

Condolence: In the 1940s, Elinor Blackie was the visiting Home Economics teacher for my mother's school in Poplar Grove, Hants County. It was a one room country school and they had a Sewing Club that met once a week. The Home Economics teacher arrived at intermittent times of the year and at the end of the year to judge their sewing projects. My mother, now 86, remembers her as a good judge who really knew her work, was kind and never made you feel stupid. Good qualities to be remembered for. Our condolences in your loss.

Condolence: Saddened to hear of Elinor's death. My Dad's first cousin, she spent many Christmas dinners at my kitchen table. Smart and oh so witty, we enjoyed her company and conversation immensely and have missed her every Christmas Day since she became unable to make the trek from Yarmouth. Sincere appreciation to all her friends who cared for her like family.
