Obituary for Charles Earle Robbins

Charles Earle  Robbins
Charles E Robbins age 93, passed away April 12, 2018 after a brief illness.
Born in Yarmouth, NS. on September 8, 1924, he was the son of Bernard and Dorothy (Weddleton)Robbins .Charles was a well known businessman, the fourth and final generation of his family to own Parker Eakins Ltd. He had a quiet personality and a great sense of humor. Charles loved his community and was involved in many local organizations. He served two terms on the Yarmouth Town Council and was a long time member of Neptune Company of the Yarmouth Fire Department serving as Captain at one point. He was a past President of the Yarmouth YMCA and member of the Y’s Mens Club and was a Life Member of the Rotary Club. Charles served on the Boards of Directors of the CNIB, The Old Ladies Home Society, Yarmouth Hospital, Mountain Cemetery as well as the Industrial Loan Board of Nova Scotia. He was a proud member of The Wednesday Night Friendly Poker Club. Charles is survived by his wife of 70 years Barbara (Foster) Robbins, whom he met at Acadia University where they both were students. He is also survived by his son David (Meredith) Ottawa and his daughter Anne (Blair MacDonald) Yarmouth; grandchildren Daryl Ottawa, Erin (Chris) Toronto and Chris Yarmouth.
There will be no visitation or funeral at his request. Interment will be in Mountain Cemetery at a future date. The family wishes to thank Dr David Webster, the staff of 3 South and the Staff of Yarmouth Heights for their care and compassion. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank or a charity of your choice. Final arrangements are being handled by Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium.
