Obituary for Bruce David Gallagher Sr.

GALLAGHER, Bruce David Sr. – 86, of the Meadow’s Home for Special Care, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2014 at the Meadows. Born in Chebogue Point, Yarmouth Co., on May 26, 1927, he was a son to the late William James and Gussie (Purdy) Gallagher. Bruce was a fisherman for over 35 years of his life and lived most of his life in Sand Beach. He is survived by daughter, Susan Purdy, Yarmouth ;sons, David (Theresa), Yarmouth; Bruce Jr., Arcadia; brother, Ray, Halifax; sister, Grace Smith, Yarmouth; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Lena (Cottreau); sisters, Lillian, Myrtle, Wanetta, Marjorie; brothers, James, Walter, Oliver, Harold, and Phillip. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.D “Bill” Newell officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation, The Meadows, Chebogue Cemetery.
