Obituary for Bernard Fielding Smith

Bernard Fielding  Smith
Smith Bernard Fielding – age 95, of Yarmouth passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018. Born April 25, 1922 in Chebogue Yarmouth Co., he was a son to the late Robert Ernest Smith and Tillie Maria (Swaine) Smith. Bernard was a Veteran of WWII serving with the 3rd Division R.C.A.S.C. He was also a D Day veteran and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 143 and then Wedgeport Legion Branch 155. A member of the Sandford United Baptist church, Bernard was actively involved with various church committees. Bernard was a fisherman for his working career and was known to be a hard worker. He is survived by his loving wife Agnes (Bray) Smith; daughter, Sharon LeBlanc, Sluice Point; son, Gregory Smith ( Bonnie Moore), Yarmouth; grandchildren; Andrea, Shannon, Susanne, Michael, Amber; and great grandchildren, Maya, Xavier ,Abby, Molly, Benjamin, Avary, Brandon and Zoey; as well as step great grandchildren, Samantha, Sara and Scarlette . Besides his parents, Bernard was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Victor and Ronald; sisters, Ruth, Dennis and Lillian Rodney; and a grandson in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Tuesday February 13, 2018 from 7-9 P.M. with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 Wedgeport Service at 7:30, all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Wednesday February 14, 2018 at 2 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Johan Eichhorn officiating. Interment will follow in Darling Lake Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donation in memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
