Obituary for Basil Joseph "Bud" Doucette

DOUCETTE, Basil Joseph “Bud” –age 87, of the Meadow’s Home for Special Care, Yarmouth, passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on August 13, 2014. Born August 14, 1926 in Yarmouth, N.S. he was a son to the late Perley and Margaret (d’Entremont) Doucette. Bud was a devoted member of the Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus, and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 Wedgeport. He was also a food bank volunteer for many years. During his working years he was a driver for Ben’s Bread and a car detailer. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Whittaker; son, Brian (Judy) Doucette; brothers, Louis, Perley, Martin; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Marie Angeline “Anne”; sisters, Mariett and Evangeline. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Friday, August 15, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 Wedgeport service at 7:30 p.m. and prayers at 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10 a.m. from St. Ambrose Cathedral with Father Pat O’Meara officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bud’s memory may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank or charity of choice.
