SMITH Genevieve – age 92, It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Genevieve Smith in her 93rd year at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on September 18th, 2018. She was the wife of the late Auldon Smith. Born in Springdale Digby County on November 21,1925 she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Dorothy (Challoner) Mullen. She lived most of her life in Beaver River where is was a housekeeper and raised her family. She was a member of the Beaver River Baptist Church and a avid quilt maker. She was predeceased by her 5 brothers, Norman, Leslie, Willard, Lloyd, Edward and 2 sisters, Marguerite and Hazel. She is survived by her two children; Ellen (John) Nickerson Sandford; Archie (Heather) Smith , Beaver River; sisters Lillian, Yarmouth; Mildred, Moncton; Kathleen, Port Maitland and Irene in Truro; grandchildren; Buck Owen, Melody Deveau, Hanna Dugas, Tim and Carrie Smith, Amanda O’Blenis; great grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon and Kayla Deveau; Kylie and Emily Dugas, Graydon and Nelson Thibault, Nathaniel O’Blenis; and a great great-granddaughter, Olivia Deveau. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 22,2018 from 1 until funeral time at 2 P.M. all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Donald Moses will officiate the service with interment to follow in Port Maitland/Beaver River Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Beaver River Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Our Family wish to thank Cora and Mike from Gentle Care, the staff of Roseway Manor, The Meadows Home for Special Care, the staff on 3 South at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Special thanks to Gilbert the resident cat, who kept her company when we were not there. She loved this cat more then anything.
