Obituary for Sydney Lawrence "Syd" Poole

Sydney Lawrence  "Syd"  Poole
Poole, Sydney Lawrence “Syd”- age 61, of Belleville, Yarmouth Co; N.S. passed away on November 25th, 2017 at home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Digby and moving to Yarmouth a year later. He was a son to the late Fred and Mary (Comeau) Poole. Syd worked as a taxi driver for Pete’s Taxi until he was involved in an accident in which he defied all odds of a 5 year prognosis and survived another 40 years. After his accident he worked for Yarmouth Sea for over 10 years and then Mackenzie Security for the remainder of his 12 year career. Syd was a loving husband and father who loved his family dearly. In the 1970’s he was involved in sea cadets and met his future wife Marie Poole (Pottier). In his spare time Syd was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. He was also known to enjoy bowling as well. He is survived by his wife Marie Poole (Pottier) ; sons, Alex Poole and Jason Surette; sisters, Alice (Ralph) Durkee, Pleasant Valley, Annette Poole, Pembroke, Cecila (Mike) Paddock, Bridgewater, Bernadette (Kerry) Maughan, Bridgewater, Donna (William) Hurlburt Pembroke, brothers; Robert(Linda), Ontario, Georgie (Marie) Vancouver, Ronnie (Nancy), Chilliwack, Blair (Betty) Yarmouth. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Sharon MacKinnon, Wilma Poole and Rose Marie Barry. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or visitation by Syd’s request. Donations in memory may be made to the Tri County V.O.N or the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Tri county V.O.N and the staff at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital Oncology Unit. Interment will be at a later date.
