Obituary for Winnifred Bernice Fletcher

FLETCHER, Winnifred Bernice – age 85, of Nakile Home for Special Care and formerly of South Ohio passed away peacefully on March 20, 2020, at Nakile with her loving husband and daughter by her side. Born in Kelly’s Cove, Yarmouth Co., N.S., on February 3, 1935, she was a daughter to the late Albert and Alberta (Hayes) Smith. Winnifred was a devoted member of the South Ohio United Baptist Church. She liked to garden and worked on the farm with her husband. Milking the cows was one of her favorite chores. She was known to be kind, compassionate, and always willing to help others. In her spare time, she loved to do crafts, knit, crochet, and do cross-stitch. She is survived by her loving husband, Randy Fletcher, Nakile; daughter, Linda Smith, South Ohio; brother. Victor, St. John N.B.; and sisters, Kay Crowell, Yarmouth; and Bessie Parks, Ontario. Besides her parents, Winnifred was predeceased by her brothers. Suvernis, Albert, Clyde, Voss, Warren, Murray, Raymond, and Wilber “Nin”; sister, Lorena Olsen and another in infancy. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2020 with Rev. Dr. Shawn Kehoe officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery in South Ohio. Family flowers only, please. Donation in memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, Tri-County Victorian Order of Nurses, or a charity of your choice.
