Obituary for Walter "Daniel" Jacquard

Walter Daniel “Danny” Jacquard of Comeau’s Hill passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the QE2 Hospital in Halifax on March 25, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1957, in Yarmouth to his parents George Jacquard and Emily (Fitzgerald), both of Comeau’s Hill.

Danny was an avid genealogist; he took a great interest in family and community ancestry. He was the unofficial community historian, writing literature on historical topics published many times in the local ARGUS magazine and mapping out family trees. He loved to learn about war, and history in general. In his younger years, he was a member of the local militia and worked at Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Ambulance Service. He then joined his father in the painting industry, where he worked for over 40 years, becoming a very talented painter. Danny was a skilled craftsman and very creative in his means to fix most anything that was broken. He also plastered, wallpapered and really enjoyed staining. In his early years he enjoyed hunting, and he was a member of the rifle association. He loved classic rock like Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and Boston, but particularly John Forgarty and CCR. Danny especially loved to chat, he enjoyed being around people, and he always had a great story to tell.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Moses) Jacquard; daughter, Jennifer Jacquard (Adam White) of Cannan; son, Jeremie (Stacy) Jacquard of Petawawa; brothers, Michael (Sandra) Jacquard of Comeau’s Hill, Kevin Jacquard of Yarmouth, Henry (Kim) Jacquard of New Glasgow; brothers-in-law, Rev. Dr. John (Jane) Moses and Darren Deveau; sister-in-law, Christine (Albert) Amirault; grandchildren, Emery Melanson, Tobias Jacquard, Emilia Jacquard, Sophie Jacquard and Kourtni Beaulieu.

He is predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Donna Deveau and Barbara Jacquard, as well as his grandson, Andrew Jacquard.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 1 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bruce officiating. A visitation will be held one hour before the service.
