Obituary for Violet Lucy Stoddard

STODDARD, Violet Lucy, age 70, passed away in Halifax on June 4, 2021, in Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by her loving family; husband, Keith Stoddard; daughters, Crystal Leblanc (Jimmy), Carmen MacKenzie (Neil), Cheril LeBlanc (Ryan); and grandson, Nate. Besides those present when she passed, she is survived by her step-children whom she loved like her own, Melanie Coulstring (Doug), Shane Coulstring (Natalie), five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Grattan (Jim). Anne Fitzgerald (Ludger), brother Billy Muise (Kay), and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Born in Yarmouth on August 3, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Harriette Lucy Doucette. The main love in her life was family; however, she also enjoyed gardening when she could, sunflowers, bird watching, especially eagles and hummingbirds, going for walks, kayaking, reading, and her cats. Some family members even called her "The crazy cat lady." She also cherished the many friendships she made over the years. Some came from working at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital as a baker, where she had customers waiting for her cinnamon rolls to come out of the oven. Some just came from being the kind and caring person she was. To know her was to love her. Besides her mother, Violet was predeceased by her niece, Kimberley Fitzgerald. Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation by request. A private graveside service will take place on June 10, 2021, in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society of N.S., or your local S.P.C.A. Online condolences may be sent to sweenys@sweenysfuneralhome.net, or you may sign the guestbook online at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net.
