Jacquard, Sylvia, of South Ohio, passed away January 26, 2022, at the age of 87 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Wedgeport, she was a daughter to the late Albeni and Adeline (Fitzgerald) Pothier. Sylvia was a fighter and had the philosophy when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. She was independent, determined, tough and never complained. She was more concerned about others than herself. She enjoyed blueberry picking, bingo, gardening and flowers. Sylvia was a lover of all animals, especially her dogs. She loved her family dearly and was their bright light with a heart of gold. She is survived by daughters, Irene Jacquard; Louise (William) Goodwin; Theresa Jacquard Nickerson (Dave Gallagher); sons, Chris Jacquard (Lison Lacharite); Joseph Jacquard (Patty White); Patrick Jacquard; step sons, Kevin Pountney (Peggy McDonald); Benjamin (Wendy) Pountney; step daughters, Esther Leblanc; Zelda Brannen ;grandchildren , Melissa, who she raised as her own; Michelle Cunningham ;Murray Nickerson; Tanya Hallas; Sanya Winters; William Goodwin Jr; Matthew Comeau; Chelsea Chouinard; and many great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Cottreau; Roseanne Hewson. She was predeceased by children ,Sharon and Albeni in infancy and Lorrianne at age 4; first husband, Ralph Jacquard; common law partner, Benny Pountney; siblings, Theresa; John; Louis; Benny; Anna; Georgina; Lena; Edmund and Wilford. An invite-only visitation will be held in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 7-9 P.M. ( Proof of vaccination required). A graveside service will take place July 13,2022 at 2 p.m. in the Ritchie Memorial Chapel at the Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Rev A.D Bill Newell officiating.
