Sid adored his grandchildren, Tryna (Mark), Kevin (Shelley), Nicole (Ryan), Jennifer (Jamie), Keal, Keira, Andrew, Jamie, Natalie (Brad) and Curtis. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, who made him smile when no one else could: Rachel, Lauren, Alexander, Aiden, Aynsley, Islay, Claire, Liam and Asher. He was was predeceased by his dear sister, Mabel MacNaughton. Sid was born in Dalhousie, NB to the late Gordon Jubal MacNaughton and Marion Rae (Steeves) MacNaughton. After graduation from Dalhousie High School, in 1952, Sid joined the RCMP. His career led him to many communities throughout the Maritimes and Ottawa. He lived a distinguished career of which he was passionately proud throughout his 35-year service. Retiring in Yarmouth 39 years ago, Sid entrenched himself into the fabric of Yarmouth County. With his passion for life and people, he was heavily involved with numerous community service groups which included the Masons, RCMP Veterans Association. Yarmouth Rotary Club and the Hebron Baptist Church. Sid loved to work in his workshop on a daily basis and enjoyed friends who would visit him frequently. He created beautiful furniture for his wife and children. With his company, Killick Woodkraft, he made lawn furniture for many years and most recently loved turning wooden bowls and constructing bird houses with his dearest friend, Don. Many of his woodcrafts were donated in support of local charities for fundraising events. Sid and Doris were strong supporters of local SPCA’s. They were passionate about dogs and cats, and, to the end, Sid was never without a dog by his side. Through actions and living, Sid taught his children that there is no greater love than the love of family, that fairness is a necessity in life and that all people are equal. Each day through life, Sid walked proudly with his head held high, his shoulders back and lived his life to the fullest, adoring his family, his friends, and his dogs.
