Obituary for Russell Wayne Cushing

Russell Wayne Cushing
Cushing Russell Wayne – age 53, of Dayton, Yarmouth Co., N.S. It is with extreme sadness and shock that we announce the sudden and accidental death of Russell W. Cushing on January 24, 2018. Born in Yarmouth he was the son of Wayne K. Cushing and Frances “Fran” M. MacDougall. Russell was a “Windchaser” he loved chasing the wind pursuing his passion of kite surfing. Russell was always online watching the wind, and checking the wind apps on his phone, searching for the perfect conditions to kite. Although kite surfing was his passion the true loves of his life were his soul mate Sarah LeBlanc and his daughter Ivy. Russell was the best dad in the world, as long as Sarah and Ivy were happy and good, he was happy and good. Russell loved his “big boy toys” he could often be found working on projects with his excavator and dump truck. Most recently building a horse barn and riding trail for Sarah and Ivy. He is survived by his parents Wayne and Frances; soul mate, Sarah; daughter Ivy Cushing (mother Wendy Cushing) ; Sarah’s son, Daniel LeBlanc; sisters, Deborah (Shaun) Henderson, Cole Harbour; Susan (Don) Berry, Yarmouth; Allyson Cushing, North Vancouver; and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Norman (Oretha) Cushing and Russell (Lydia) Morton. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of Russell’s life will be held Monday January 29, 2018 at 11 A.M from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will take place in the spring. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the SOS Children’s Villages, Yarmouth Kia Comets care of Andrew Hiltz.
