Robert Gordon Cushing passed away peacefully at his home on March 12th,2023. Born May 17th ,1943 to the late Norman and Oretha (Olsen) Cushing, both of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Robert was an avid hunter, woodsman, and fisherman. He loved playing practical jokes, story telling, playing cards (Crib) with his brothers and friends. He was a generous man, donating to several charities. He was happier to give than to receive. He is survived by children, Donald Cushing (Bethany) ; Gina Cushing (Myron); Nola Cushing; Chris Cushing (Carrie); Ray Cushing (Heather), 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Shirley (Seth); Wayne (Jennifer); Patricia (Dennis); Malcolm (Gerry). Aside from his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Vera; brothers, Arnold; Michael; sister, Elizabeth “Betty”. Visitation will be held, Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 7-9 pm. Funeral will be Friday, March 17,2023 at 1 pm both from the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. A.D Bill Newell officiating. Interment to take place at a later date in the Pembroke Cemetery. Reception to follow in Jacob’s Loft Event Center above Sweeny’s Funeral Home. Family flowers only please.
