Obituary for Robert "Bob" William Ryerson

RYERSON, Robert "Bob" William - age 79 of North Chegoggin, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on January 12, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co., N.S. he was a son to the late Lindsay and Annie (Baker) Ryerson. Bob was a mechanic his entire working life - a career that brought him all over North America before moving back to Yarmouth where he eventually opened his own shop in Chegoggin, Bob's Auto Repair. He was an avid outsdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and after retiring from being a mechanic he loved working in the woods logging and cutting firewood of which he delivered to many homes. A regular at McDonald's, he could often be found having a coffee with his buddies and he also enjoyed a good game of cribbage with his card playing buddies. For a great many years he loved truck pulls and competed all over the tri-counties and at the Yarmouth Western NS Exhibition. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy "Ann" (Nickerson) Ryerson; son, Robert "Rob" (Lynn) Ryerson, Canaan, Yarmouth Co., daughter-in-law, Dawn (Wreyford) Ryerson-Goodwin, North East Point; sisters, Joyce (Danny) Vacon, Yarmouth, Linda Ruttan, Ontario; sister-in-law, Donna Ryerson, North Carolina; grandchildren Sarah (Tristan Jacklyn) Ryerson, Travis (Danielle Keizer) Ryerson, Brydon Ryerson, Brandee Goodwin; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Bob was predeceased by his son, Brian Ryerson, brothers, Lance "Bud" Ryerson and Brian Ryerson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 7 - 9 pm in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of Bob's life will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2 pm from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.D "Bill" Newell officiating. Interment will follow in Brooklyn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory can be made to the Yarmouth Western NS Exhibition or to the Brooklyn Cemetery Fund.
