Obituary for Robert Baker

We are sad to announce the passing of our loved, Rev. Robert E. Baker on December 7th ,2022 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his loving wife of 58 years by his side. Bob was born on January 25,1941 in Goobies, NFLD. Son of the late John and Mary (Avery) Baker. He was predeceased by sister, Juila Avery, brother, Nicholas. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Sylvia and son, Rob; sisters, Louise, Pearl, Sadie, Sylvia, Eileen;brother, Ford; many nieces and nephews. While serving in his church he was ordained in 1964. B.T.H in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts BA. He graduated from Acadia Divinity College in 1989 with Bachelor of theology. Bob served in Pastorates, in NFLD, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. He was an avid reader, loved talking to people, loved to visit and loved to preach. He was a big fan of the WWE Wrestling. Visitation will be April 21st ,2023 from 6-8 p.m. in the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A Memorial Service will be from Temple Baptist Church April 22nd at 2p.m. with Rev. A.D. Bill Newell and Rev. Raymond Pitcher officiating. Burial will be Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund. The family would like to thank, Rev. Raymond Pitcher, Rev. Robert Gates and Rev. A.D. Bill Newell for their visits and comforting words. Thank you to Dr. David Webster , Janet and Lisa for being there for us, we wouldn’t have gotten through without you. Special thank you to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Charles MacIsaac and Kim Boudreau.
