Obituary

Reigh Allison Poole
October 18, 1935 – September 1, 2020

Reigh Allison Poole passed away peacefully on September 1, 2020 with his wife by his side at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Reigh was the son of the late Dorothy and Ronald Poole. From a young age, he had an engineering mind. He worked in the various automotive dealerships, boiler rooms, and up to retirement worked for D.O.T. at the Yarmouth Airport. Throughout his whole life he was well known for metal fabrication and custom builds in his garage. One of his creations was a family run business called Joyland Park where happy memories were created for many in the community. He was a long-time volunteer with the Yarmouth Fire Department and was proud of the fact that he was the last surviving elected deputy chief. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Jeffery); sister, Joyce MacDonald; daughters, Nancy (David) Bishara, Joan Brewer; son, Gordon (Mitzy); grandchildren, Elizabeth (Kevin), Ashley, Milan (Lindsay) Bishara, Brigham (Candice), Maxwell Poole; Keenan and Janelle Brewer; and great grandchildren, Peyton, Maddox Macleod. Predeceased by a daughter, Sheila; grandson, Jalen; and son-in-law, Steve Brewer. A special thank you to the Tri County V.O.N. and the doctors and staff of 3 East, for their kind and compassionate care. Donations in memory may be made to the Tri County V.O.N., HOPE (Bus Fund), or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be a private family visitation and service. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in Kemptville. Online condolences may be sent to sweenysfh@eastlink.ca, or you may sign the guestbook online at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net.

My sincere condolences to the Poole family. I had the privilege of both having lots of healthy fun at the “Joyland” park and later working at the airport with Reigh. A brilliant and ousting man.

So sorry to hear of Reigh’s passing. My sincere condolences to Ruth and family. My thoughts and prayers are with at this time. I am so thankful I had Reigh build me a set of forks for my tractor just awhile back. I will always remember him every time I put them on or look at them. He could find a way to engineer anything. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the family, and I am finding it hard believe it was way back in 1979 that I first met Reigh at the airport. Within a week I got a sample of what he was about, and from there the connection grew. As I walked past his shop on morning on my way to my work area I shared a hello with him to with which he responded, “And to you as well Mr. Moakler”, my response was “my friends call me Ron”, and his immediate response was “Okay Mr. Moakler” He was a man of many skills and took great pride in his work, but was most proud of his family. I consider him a lost friend indeed and hope you could hear him saying those words we exchanged. They were not the only ones I remember, all of which demonstrated his whit and personal touch of humor.
